Aaron Parks brings a newly formed trio to Porto, joining two of Europe's most compelling voices: Danish bassist Anders Christensen — a musician's musician, known for his work with Paul Motian and for a lyrical, deeply intentional approach to the instrument — and Portuguese drummer André Sousa Machado, whose musical kinship with Parks grew out of their shared time in Lisbon.
Christensen and Machado have never performed together. Their common thread is Parks, who connects both relationships. Three distinct voices meeting here for the first time as a unit.
The program draws on Parks's original compositions alongside selected standards — music that favors lyricism and presence over flash, music that speaks with clarity, warmth, and intention.
