Winner of the Salzburg International Mozart Competition in 2016, Italian-Dutch pianist Saskia Giorgini has since established herself as one of the most distinctive voices of her generation, performing at venues from the Wigmore Hall and Concertgebouw to the Vienna Musikverein and Suntory Hall. Her recent Debussy album for Pentatone received an Editor's Choice in Gramophone and was named Instrumental Choice of the Month in BBC Music Magazine — making her Porto Pianofest debut an occasion of particular resonance.

As the sun sets over the Douro River in the beautiful outdoor Patio Romântico, Giorgini brings a program perfectly attuned to its surroundings. Chopin's Nocturnes and Waltzes open the evening in a world of shadow and song that Debussy would inherit and transform — shimmering water reflections, the distant sound of pagodas, a garden in the rain, and bursts of musical color.
